Jay's 430 mile ride to glory.

A BIRMINGHAM optician has described a ten-day charity bike ride as "the most difficult and rewarding challenge" of his life.

Sutton Coldfield-based Jay Lad, from Lad & Turner Opticians, cycled more than 430 miles between Chile and Argentina through the Andes National Park to raise cash for the National Deaf Children's Society.

The challenge saw him battle tough terrain at altitudes of more than 6,500ft.

He said: "It was definitely one of the most difficult, rewarding and amazing things I've ever done.."

The Kodak Lens Vision Centre optician has raised pounds 3,000.
