Jason makes a nightmare return.
FRIDAY THE 13th (18)
AFTER Jason X (2001) only led to Freddy vs Jason (2003), where do you take one of the most famous horror franchises in movie history after ten sequels?
Well, nowhere really, because although this is a 97-minute revamp, it's all as pointless as Pink Panther 2.
The original 1980 film was a bigger hit at the box office than it was with critics and the whole franchise simply became a cash cow which could be slaughtered again and again.
Working for producer Michael Bay, the director of Bad Boys and Pearl Harbor, this film has been directed by Marcus Nispel who revived The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. In this new incarnation, Clay Miller (Jared Padalecki) is searching for his missing sister Whitney (Amanda Righetti) and pursues the few leads to Crystal Lake."When people go missing round here, they're gone for good," is the chilling advice. With local lass Jenna (Danielle Panabaker), Clay heads for the site of Jason Voorhees' bloodthirsty rampage and discovers rotting old cabins covered in moss. But when Jason (Derek Mears) rises from the grave, things won't be quiet for long. Anyone who has seen My Bloody Valentine won't necessarily relish another trip into dark mining tunnels.
