Jarvis Entertainment Group Announces Project Aurora Testing Release; Aurora Paves Way for Network Restructuring Initiative.
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 1, 2002
Internet technology and entertainment holding company Jarvis Entertainment Group, Inc. (Pink Sheets:JRVE) today announces the testing release of Project Aurora and a concurrent network restructure.
Aurora is the PHP version of industry innovator Ikonboard. Though the extremely fast, versatile and popular PHP language allows for easier user installs, the impetus for Project Aurora was competition. Conceived in Perl, Ikonboard was designed from inception to be the embodiment of efficiency. The primary alternatives to Ikonboard use PHP; with Ikonboard's entry and conversion into PHP, that efficiency ensures Aurora is significantly faster than any of its competitors.
"Project Aurora defines JEG's commitment to staying on the bleeding edge of web tool development. Aurora utilizes the latest web programming language and techniques to squeeze even more features from a smaller resource use footprint," said Matthew Mecham, lead programmer and developer of Ikonboard. "These new techniques allow JEG to service a larger market share and make our free programs even more desirable to the web hosting industry."
Aurora was programmed to work efficiently on a wide variety of operating systems and web server applications, Mac OSX (Nasdaq:AAPL), Windows 2000/XP (Nasdaq:MSFT) platforms, Linux, Apache, IIS, and others. To see the Aurora brochure please visit http://www.ikonboard.com/aurora/brochure/.
Aurora's engine powers myIkonboard, the upcoming hosted version of Ikonboard. When Aurora and myIkonboard are globally released in the coming weeks, Ikonboard will be the only forum software product on the market with all three service solutions: Perl, PHP, and hosted service. To facilitate Ikonboard's introduction as a mainstream forum software, the Perl and PHP versions will ship with convertors for major competitors. The convertor allow users to import members and posts from alternate forum systems into Ikonboard. By leveraging this reach, in a matter of a months Ikonboard will be by far the most proliferating message board system on the web.
"Using the Ikonboard member management system as the base, the new network structure will better control, market, and capitalize on every aspect of our network," said Charles Warner, Vice President of Jarvis Network. "The most visible aspect, a global login system, tracks movement through the network. An online users list and other data can be maintained and posted on any page of the network. The user controls all sites in the network possessing a management system from one location. The most important features the new structure provides, invisible to the user, pertain to marketing and user reach, allowing the network to harness the millions of daily E-mails routing through the various network sites via a central E-mail database. The member center adroitly tracks and manages paid services, such as hosting."
The hosting service, launched in early January, logs paid signups at a rate above the industry standard, and anticipates even more signups with the network marketing system in place while the Jarvis Network continues to encourage purchases of paid licenses and installations. The current strategy indicates Ikonboard will gain a such large percentage of the forum software market share that marketing will become self sustaining.
The new license purchasing agreement defines both service and service distribution for paid license holders. The new Ikonboard member center automatically activates a paid license holder's privileges including access to private forums, support forums, and priority support tickets handled by specialized staff. With the introduction of the new product line, Aurora, Jarvis Network projects license sales to increase dramatically.
"We expect network revenues to increase 14-22% as a result of this initiative and Project Aurora," said John D. Jarvis, Chairman and CEO of Jarvis Entertainment Group. "We are the new breed of dot com; one that generates dollars."
As a top 200 web property worldwide, Jarvis Network will continue to increase traffic by implementing user-requested improvements on Top Site Lists, wwwresources, Text link swap and BanX and acquiring additional support staff for the sites. The Gaming Revolution web site will be integrated into the network system and will be tailored for a mainstream gaming audience.
