Amman, Sep.18(Petra) -- The Government of Japan has decided to extend a grant of $76,100 to the Jordanian Association for Family Planning and Protection (JAFPP) for the renewal of ultrasound equipment under the scheme called Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP). A Grant Contract was signed on September 18th, 2018, by Hidenao Yanagi, Ambassador of Japan to Jordan and Abed Mansi, the chairman of board of directors of JAFPP. The grant aims to improve the performance of gynaecological examination provided at JAFPP's health clinics, through the provision of new ultrasound equipment. JAFPP was established in 1964 as an NGO and has been supporting vulnerable mothers and babies by providing medical services at a minimal price, in addition to extending various kinds of support such as counselling and awareness programs. With the new medical equipment provided by Japan, more accurate and immediate diagnosis by the doctors and the required treatment afterwards will be available. At the signing ceremony, Ambassador Yanagi expressed his gratitude to JAFPP's great contribution to the society and stated: "The Government of Japan understands that it is considered as a basic human right for all mothers and babies to receive necessary support regardless of their social background; therefore it is very important to secure the opportunity for the needed medical care at affordable price in the course of pregnancy." Under Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects, Japan has extended around ten million US Dollars for 143 projects to non-governmental organizations, schools, hospitals, and local governments in Jordan since 1993. //Petra// SD 18/09/2018 18:03:14
