Japan week commences at a local hotel.

KARACHI -- The Japan week commenced at a local hotel on Thursday.

The Consul General of Japan in Karachi, Akira Ouchi, performed the inauguration.

The week-long event is being organised by the Consulate General of Japan in Karachi in collaboration with the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association Sindh, Ikebana International Karachi Chapter, a posh hotel in Karachi and some other organisations.

Speaking on the occasion, the Consul General of Japan in Karachi, Akira Ouchi, said that the event would apprise the visitors of the rich cultural diversity of Japan as well as its traditional and modern culture.

He said that this would also contribute towards fostering the understanding among the people of the two countries and also help enhance further the existing deep friendly ties.

The Consul General said that 30 Ikebana flower arrangements have also been put on display at the venue besides exhibition of Bonsai, Japanese dolls exhibition etc.

The General Manager of the posh Hotel in Karachi, Azeem Qureshi, said that such an event would also be organised in Islamabad and Lahore.
