Japan : ITOCHU Announces Expansion of Manufacturing Facilities at Manufacturing Plant for Reverse Osmosis Membrane Elements for Desalination in Saudi Arabia.

ITOCHU Corporation announced today that ITOCHU Plantech Inc. (hereinafter ITOCHU Plantech ), a wholly owned subsidiary of ITOCHU, has expanded the manufacturing facilities at a manufacturing plant for reverse osmosis membrane elements in Rabigh City in western Saudi Arabia that was established jointly with ACWA Holding of Saudi Arabia (hereinafter ACWA ) and Toyobo Co., Ltd. (hereinafter Toyobo ).

The completion ceremony for the expansion of the Rabigh plant of Arabian Japanese Membrane Company, LLC (AJMC) was held on May 29, attended by H.E. Dr. Al-Ibrahim, the Governor of Saline Water Conversion Corporation and officials from ACWA, Toyobo, ITOCHU and ITOCHU Plantech.

Positioned in the growing seawater desalination markets of the Middle East, this joint venture, AJMC, takes advantage of the extended facilities and aims to distribute reverse osmosis membrane elements for seawater desalination not only in Saudi Arabia, but also in other regions of the Middle and Near East as well as in the countries of North Africa.
