Japan's accident commission will probe aircraft incidents.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The Japanese Ministry of Transport plans to give its accident investigation panel the responsibility of probing serious aircraft incidents from the next fiscal year.

The incidents that will be investigated by the ministry's Aircraft Accident Investigation Commission include aircraft overshooting runways, landing on the wrong runways and near misses. So far these incidents have been investigated by the Civil Aviation Bureau. The plan is aimed at helping identify accident risks.
