Jane will help next generation of success stories; the dealmakers in association with Deloitte.
Jane Siddle, from Boldon, has taken up a position as investment executive with NEL's specialist debt and mezzanine finance division, Evolve Finance, and will be responsible for assessing and completing investment applications.
Following graduation with a degree in accounting & financial control at Sheffield's former Polytechnic, Jane joined the Sunderland office of accountancy firm Jennings Johnsons (now Tenon) as a trainee.
She qualified as a chartered accountant in 1992 and worked in audit, insolvency and small business services before making her move to Nelson Hall & Johnson (now Baker Tilly) in 1995, taking up a new role in corporate finance.
From 2001, mother-of-two Jane was in Yorkshire working for a small venture capital company as well as carrying out the role of an investment manager for South Yorkshire Investment Fund before returning to her native North-East.
She said: "NEL is a well-regarded regional company which helps companies by providing the investment support they need to grow their businesses.
"It's crucial to the North-East's future economy that we make funds readily available for the right sort of businesses. It's equally essential for us to ensure that we make the best use of the capital available from both our investees and investors' points of view.
"NEL has a very strong track record and reputation within the regional business and investment community. It's an exciting time to be joining the organisation and I am looking forward to playing my part in both NEL's and our investees' development."
NEL investment director David Wilson said: "Jane's enthusiasm for the growing business market will play a key part in ensuring that North-East companies can make the most of all the opportunities that NEL can offer.
"Over the last decade, NEL investments have helped many of the region's best-known companies achieve and exceed their commercial objectives, and we are confident that Jane will help add new names to the list of successful investee companies."
