James Marino Joins Deloitte & Touche's Actuarial & Insurance Consulting Group.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 1999--

Deloitte & Touche LLP announces that James F. Marino has joined the firm's Actuarial & Insurance Consulting Group as a National Business Development Professional in its National Sales Organization. An insurance executive for 20 years, Marino will have the responsibility for business development for the Actuarial & Insurance Consulting Group across the nation. He will be located in the firm's New York office.

"Marino's extensive professional experience in the insurance industry, including capital formation, reengineering operations, and mergers and acquisitions activities, will enable him to help clients capitalize on business opportunities," stated Bill Potvin, Principal and National Practice Leader for the Actuarial & Insurance Consulting Group.

Prior to joining Deloitte & Touche, Marino was President and COO of the American Reliance division of Highlands Insurance Group and Vik Brothers Insurance Group, a publicly traded regional insurance company that operated on a national basis. Also, for 15 years he served as Chairman, CEO, and President of Merchants Insurance Group, which consists of a mutual insurance company and a publicly traded company with operations in the Northeast United States. In these positions, Marino played a pivotal role in improving the company's financial stability, operating performance, and A.M. Best rating, and with its recognition by Forbes as one of the top performing companies in the United States.

Marino holds a Bachelor's degree in mathematics from La Salle University, is a graduate of the Executive Management Program at Harvard University, and is a member of the Casualty Actuarial Society (A.C.A.S.) and American Academy of Actuaries (M.A.A.A.).
