James Arthur pulls out of upcoming gig - and it's all down to his best mate; He apologised to fans but hopes they will understand.

James Arthur has pulled out of an upcoming gig because he has been asked to be his pal's best man.

The Saltburn singer was due to support Paloma Faith when she headlines Stadiwm Zip World in Colwyn Bay, Wales, on July 14.

But he has since revealed that he can no longer perform as he "couldn't miss my best friend's wedding".

"I'm really sorry to say that I'm having to cancel my performance at Stadiwm Zip World in Colwyn Bay," he announced.

"I have been asked to be best man at my best friend's wedding which has all happened really quickly.

"I hate nothing more than disappointing my fans but I'm sure you can understand that I couldn't miss my best friend's wedding.

"Hope to see you all soon and thank for the continued support."

James, who won the ninth series of the X Factor in 2012, is one of the show's biggest success stories.

After parting ways from Simon Cowell's Syco label in 2014, he resigned to the label in 2016.

Since then he has achieved multiple number one hits with his single Say You Won't Let Go, a platinum selling album, sold out tours and Brit nominations.

He's also released a book, Back to the Boy, in which heopens up about his struggleswith mental health issues and drug abuse.

In terms of music, James, who willplay Scarborough Open Air Theatreon July 26, has recently collaborated with Marshmello on the single 'You Can Cry'. It was released earlier this month.
