Jaitley: Disclose sources of funds for PILs.

Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that a PIL was the "best weapon" for some "conscience-keep-ers and crusaders" to put a spoke in the wheel of development.

Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday took a swipe at those filing public interest litigations (PILs) against development projects in India, and suggested that disclosure of funding for such PILs should be made mandatory.

He said that a PIL was the "best weapon" for some "conscience-keepers and crusaders" to put a spoke in the wheel of development.

"It should not be a bad idea if it is made mandatory that everybody who files such PILs, intended to stop developmental activity, disclose as a part of mandatory disclosure what their funding sources are," he said.
