Jail sale is a steal.

AN unused police station - complete with its original holding cell - has been put on the market for pounds 15,000.

The building, which still has the bunk used by offenders, has been empty since the police moved to new premises in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, a year ago.

Council bosses placed an advert in a local paper and have received a lot of interest in the property.

Council staff say the old jail house could be used for a small business - but some locals are worried about who might buy it.

One said: "I'm sure there are loads of weirdos who would love to get their hands on a police station.

"Who knows what they would do with it?"

Estates surveyor Sheena McKenzie said: "The word kinky doesn't spring to mind when you think of Oldmeldrum - although something like that would probably liven the place up a bit."
