Jail for man who attacked boyfriend.

A man who attacked his boyfriend with an iron was yesterday jailed for two years.

Cardiff Crown Court heard how Zane Jones, 30, used the electric iron to hit Mark Jones six times from behind in a row at their shared home.

Prosecutor Owen Williams said the drunken attack happened after the pair had been living together for nine months.

He said, "Mark Jones suffered bruises, swellings and cuts."

Cardiff Crown Court heard Zane Jones previously served 45 months in jail for attacking another male partner by stabbing him in the chest and back.

Recorder Simon Ticken said, "I consider you represent a significant risk causing serious injuries to a member of the public.

"This was an unprovoked and disgraceful attack. It was largely luck he didn't suffer a more serious injury."

Jones, of Monmouth, admitted causing actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon.

Cannan Siva, defending, described it as a "domestic" crime.

He said, "They are still in a relationship and there is an intention to have a civil marriage this year."
