Jaeger's Towing adds Cashmere location.
The company, which is AAA-contracted and handles services such as lock outs, jump starts and tire changes as well as towing, is leasing office space at 346 Sunset Highway from Rod Haverfield, across from the Crunch Pak offices. The company is leasing a gated area for impounded cars further north on Sunset Highway.
Owners Dustin and Krissy Jaeger hired a manager for their operation in the Tri Cities, which includes three operators and a secretary, and are overseeing the Cashmere office. They brought their secretary, Lori Huntington, with them and have a secondary operator, Charlie Reum, here as well.
They have two rollback trucks and a wrecker in service locally. In addition to handling insurance work and AAA calls, the plan is to get on the rotation for calls from the Washington State Patrol and Chelan County Sheriff's Office. That's one of the reasons they selected Cashmere as the base of operations.
"It's 12 miles to Wenatchee and 12 miles to Leavenworth, right in between," Huntington said.
The response area extends from Stevens Pass to East Wenatchee and beyond.
The company purchased two trucks to make the expansion work, replacing one in Pasco and adding another for Cashmere. If demand for the service calls is good, they might add a service truck to handle battery calls and tire changes.
"Right now the guys are doing that with the big tow trucks," Huntington said. "The smaller truck would save on fuel and it's easier to get into small places."
Huntington said the towing industry typically stays pretty busy all year long.
"But snow is good," she said.
