Jacobs Receives Network Rail Design Framework Contract.

PASADENA, Calif., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced today that it received a framework contract from Network Rail, the U.K.'s rail network owner and operator.

Officials estimate the contract value at $4 million per year for a maximum total of $12 million.

Jacobs is one of five multifunctional designers appointed nationally on the two-year framework agreement, which begins in 2007 and has an optional one-year extension.

Network Rail owns and operates the U.K.'s rail network and is responsible for maintaining and developing its tracks, signalling system, rail bridges, tunnels, level crossings, viaducts, and stations.

The contract, for track switch and crossings design, covers the London North-East and London North-West territories and will involve multidisciplinary input from Jacobs including project management, railway engineering, and environmental services.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Michael Higgins stated, "This framework contract builds on our relationship with Network Rail. We look forward to continuing to support Network Rail as they enhance and improve rail transport in the UK."
