Jacob Holm to remain independent.

After months of looking for a potential buyer, roll goods producer Jacob Holm Industries, Soultz, France, is no longer for sale. Parent company Jacob Holm & Sons, Copenhagen, Denmark, decided last month to keep the company and continue to operate it as a subsidiary of the Jacob Holm & Sons holding company. According to Paul Plougmann, president and chief executive officer of Jacob Holm & Sons, "We have seen strong interest in our acquisition distribution layer (ADL) technology and we believe the market is underestimated at the moment. I advised the board that we should no longer look for a sale,' he said. "The potential is there and we have the sophisticated production line to supply this market segment."

As a result of the decision, no major changes are expected at the company, although a new general manager, Mimoum Saim, was appointed. Mr. Saim was formerly technical director. ADL applications will remain the primary focus, although other areas such as coverstock and topsheet applications are also possible.

Roll goods producer Jacob Holm was originally formed in 1995 after its joint venture with German roll goods manufacturer Corovin GmbH was dissolved.
