Jacko back to his roots to open city's new sports arena.

COLIN Jackson returned to his home town last night for the official opening of the Cardiff International Sports Stadium.

The one-time Olympic silver medallist thanked the Welsh capital for supporting him throughout his career and said he hoped athletes competing in the 2012 Olympics would benefit from the new stadium's facilities.

"It's brilliant to come back home to your city and see a fantastic facility like this," he said.

"It's not just track and field - every sport relies on running and jumping of some sort.

"Cardiff has been one of my biggest sponsors. We want the best athletes to come here and prepare for 2012."

Situated on Leck with Road, the International Sports Stadium provides fully certificated international athletics track and field facilities, 50- station fitness suite - including a cardio theatre, hospitality suite, an activity zone and spin cycle room - two training rooms, a 100m x 70m inner field, and two rugby and football pitches.
