Jack W. Bonner.

Jack W. Bonner, III, MD, has been selected as the recipient of the 2009 Distinguished Mentor Award from the Academy of Distinguished Educators. He also was the 2009 Faculty Nominee for the "Humanism in Medicine Award" of the USC School of Medicine. Bonner is the GHS professor of clinical neuropsychiatry and behavioral science and medical director of behavioral health services of the Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center and Marshall I. Pickens Hospital. He is also chair of the GHSUMC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine in Greenville, SC. The mentor award is presented by the Academy based on a doctor's broad, thorough knowledge of medicine, fairness, open-mindedness, accessibility, objective analytical approach to information, clear portrayal of conceptual interrelationships, ability to inspire, promotion of ethical and professional values and behavior, ability to infuse a commitment to life-long learning and professional development and service and scholarly activities that provide excellence in role modeling.
