Jabez Press announces Composition Invitational winner.

Judith Lang Zaimont is the winner of the 2005 Jabez Press Composition Invitational. Her winning composition, A Calendar Set: Twelve Preludes for Piano Solo, will be published by Jabez Press and was premiered at the 2005 World Piano Pedagogy Conference in Anaheim, California, in October.

Compositions were solicited from more than 50 established composers and were evaluated on compositional sophistication, appeal to advanced pianists and concertgoers, and marketability. Other distinguished competition finalists included Laurence Bitensky for Scent of the World We Gave Up, David Heuser for Twelve Miniatures for Piano, Liduino Pitombeira for Suite Brasiliera and Zaimont again for Sonata for Piano Solo.

Zaimont is a member of AMTs editorial committee. Bitensky and Pitombeira are past winners of the MTNA-Shepherd Distinguished Composer of the Year Award.

Fort Worth-based Jabez Press publishes and records new compositions, transcriptions and arrangements. As a publisher, Jabez Press distributes its concert and sacred music to performing musicians and teachers primarily through www.jabezpress.com and select retail music stores. As a record label, Jabez Press produces, markets and distributes recordings that feature its own publications alongside works of other composers.
