JUNK FAX: FCC COMMISSIONER TO ADDRESS FAX INDUSTRY AT FAX EXPO '92
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Facsimile Association today announced that FCC Commissioner Suzanne Hutchings will address the fax industry at a special seminar at Fax Expo '92, on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia, Pa.
The seminar, based on the FCC's action of Sept. 17, 1992, establishing rules to implement the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA), will focus on the rules that ban unsolicited "junk fax" advertisements to telephone facsimile machines.
Signed into law by President Bush on Dec. 20, 1991, the rules become effective on Dec. 20, 1992.
According to association President Gerald L. Brodsky, "Many of those fax companies that produce broadcasting equipment or provide services feel that fax marketing is dead. In fact, the FCC has set up a 30-day comment period and will be distributing information at Fax Expo '92 in an effort to clarify and explain the new regulation. Also, comments from the industry will be welcomed by the FCC."
Fax Expo '92 Conference and Exhibition will also feature education seminars led by companies such as SprintFAX, Bell Atlantic, Xerox, Canon and Ricoh.
