JUDGE UP MY STREET.

Manuela Carmena, a left-wing former judge (there aren't many of those to the peseta), has just been elected mayor of Madrid and will rid the city of its recently named Margaret Thatcher Square.

She says the Iron Lady "enslaved workers". Good on you, senorita!

Interestingly, neither Grantham, where Thatcher was born, nor Finchley,

where she was a Tory MP for 30 years, have a street or square named after her.

But her home town does have a road commemorating its other famous woman, Edith Smith - the first policewoman given full power of arrest in 1915.

Not many people will know that.
