JOSEPH TESSITORE NAMED PRESIDENT OF PRENTICE HALL CAREER AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT UNIT

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Joseph Tessitore has been named president of newly named Prentice Hall Career and Personal Development (formerly Professional Publishing), part of the business, technical and professional publishing operations of Paramount Communications Inc.
Mr. Tessitore, who has more than 20 years of marketing experience in the publishing industry, served as executive vice president and general manger of Professional Publishing. Before joining the company in 1991, he served as publisher at the Thomson Corporation and, prior to that, as senior vice president of marketing at Clark Boardman and Warren Gorham & Lamont.
"In his first year, Joe has initiated changes in our publishing and marketing programs that should pay back significant dividends in the years to come," said Glenn Shapiro, executive vice president of the Business, Technical and Professional Group. "His efforts to expand our already successful direct response operation included the creation of a new in-house card deck program with a sales staff dedicated to developing closer working relationships with advertisers."
Prentice Hall Career and Personal Development's direct book marketing programs produce more than one million transactions annually. Its customer file of close to three million names is highly sought after for list rental by other direct marketers in business-to-business, seminars and training, periodicals, office supplies, health and self improvement and education markets. Prentice Hall is developing a highly targetable leading edge relationship database that combines purchasing and payment history with file enhancement and will provide an ever more valuable resource for both internal and external users.
In addition to business, technical and professional publishing, Paramount Communications is a leader in educational publishing and has significant operations in consumer publishing.
