JOSEPH PERELLA TO JOIN MORGAN STANLEY AS A SENIOR BANKER AND MEMBER OF FIRM'S OPERATING COMMITTEE

 NEW YORK, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Morgan Stanley Group Inc. (NYSE: MS) announced today that Joseph R. Perella, one of the industry's leading investment bankers, will join the firm effective immediately as a senior banker and member of the Firm's Operating Committee.
 Mr. Perella will be a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley. Working with the Investment Banking Division, he will be involved in strategic and client matters relating to Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America. As a member of the Operating Committee, he will participate in the overall management of the Firm.

 Mr. Perella is a 21-year veteran of Wall Street. Formerly Chairman of the Board of Wasserstein Perella & Co., Inc., he co-founded Wasserstein Perella in February 1988. Prior to that he was co-head of investment banking at First Boston. He founded that firm's Mergers and Acquisitions Group in 1973. In addition, he was a member of First Boston's Management Committee for nine years.

 Mr. Perella received his B.S. in business administration from Lehigh University in 1964 and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1972. He is a trustee of Lehigh University and of the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. He is a member of the Alumni Board of the Harvard Business School, and most recently he was elected Chairman of the Harvard Business School Club of Greater New York.
