 JONES PLUMBING SYSTEMS REPORTS RESULTS
 BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Kenneth R. Wells,

president and chief executive officer of Jones Plumbing Systems, Inc. (AMEX: JPS), announced today the company's operating results for the three months and six months ended June 30.
Consolidated net sales of the company increased $1,560,520, or 16.5 percent, to $11,014,460, for the three months ended June 30, as compared with $9,453,940 for the same period in 1991. Net sales amounted to $20,463,085 in the first six months of 1992 as compared with $17,570,219 for the year-earlier period.
The company reported a net income of $179,355, or $.03 per share, in the second quarter of 1992, as compared with a net loss of $807,334, or $.14 a share, for the three months ended June 30, 1991. Net income for the first half of 1992 amounted to $189,056, or $.03 a share, as compared with a net loss of $1,127,992, or $.20 a share, for the same period last year. The results for the year-earlier periods included a loss from discontinued operations of $401,598 and $522,936 for the three months and six months ended June 30, 1991, respectively.
The company attributes the increase in net sales for 1992 primarily to growth in new business segments of the company and the introduction of new products, combined with some improvement in the residential and commercial construction markets. Wells said, "The significant turn- around in the operating results in the second quarter continues to reflect the benefit of many programs implemented last year to add sales and reduce costs."
Wells further stated, "We believe the company is well positioned to continue its growth in the second half of the year even at the current economic level."
