JONES NAMED VICE PRESIDENT-INVESTOR RELATIONS FOR THE READER'S DIGEST
 ASSOCIATION, INC.
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Ross Jones, 50, has been named to the new position of vice president-investor relations for The Reader's Digest Association, Inc. (NYSE: RDA).
In his new role, Jones will become the company's primary contact with the financial community and investors. He had been treasurer of Reader's Digest since 1983 and was elected a vice president in 1985.
"Increased public ownership of our shares has caused or investor relations responsibilities to grow, and we expect that trend to continue," said Anthony W. Ruggiero, vice president and chief financial officer. "Since Reader's Digest went public in 1990, we have had three public offerings, and a total of about 54 million shares are now held by the public. More than 250 investment institutions in the United States and Europe and more than 35,000 individuals have invested in our company. Ross' thorough knowledge of our company and his strong relationships with Wall Street analysts will be invaluable as he tells our story to the financial community."
Jones joined Reader's Digest in 1977 as investment manager and left temporarily in 1979 to serve for nine months as a special assistant to the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under the President's Executive Exchange Program. After returning to Reader's Digest, he was elected assistant treasurer in 1980, then treasurer three years later.
Before joining Reader's Digest, Jones was deputy manager with Brown Brothers, Harriman & Company in New York for seven years. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Brown University and an M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
Jones serves on the board of directors of Northern American Reinsurance Company and North American Reassurance Co. He also serves on the board of trustees of Northern Westchester Hospital Center and on the board of directors of the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. He lives with his wife, Cody, and two children in Bedford, N.Y.
