JONES MOTOR GROUP SWITCHES TO SPRINT TO CARRY ITS 800 SERVICE

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Jones Motor Group, one of the nation's leading trucking companies, recently signed a three-year contract to switch its 800 telecommunications service from MCI to Sprint. The contract is valued at approximately $1.8 million.
The nationwide trucking company, based in Spring City, Pa., relies heavily on its 800 lines to receive orders from agents and customers, as well as to stay in contact with its 1,000 drivers around the country.
"Our 800 lines are the key to us staying in touch with our customers and drivers," said Ralph Schlichthernlein, vice president of administration for Jones Motor. "We must know our customers are getting through to us with their shipping needs, while at the same time enabling us to keep in contact with our drivers so we can track delivery times. So, naturally, our 800 service is very important, and we were very confident that Sprint's network would satisfy our business needs."
According to Schlichthernlein, Jones Motor selected Sprint because of its flexible services and Sprint's willingness to meet the many telecommunications needs of the trucking company.
"We strive to make sure we can provide the best possible services to our customers, and we do that by listening to what their needs are," said Kevin E. Brauer, president of Sprint's Business Market Group. "We're very happy that Jones Motor has decided to join the growing list of companies using our 800 services."
Jones Motor Company, whose history dates back to 1894, has been the foundation for the expanding Jones Motor Group. The group offers a broad range of transportation services, including Just-In-Time van and flatbed truckload service, contract carriage, expediting, transportation coordinating and the nation's largest Hot Shot flatbed service.
Sprint is a diversified international telecommunications company with more than $10 billion in annual revenues and the United States' only nationwide all-digital, fiber-optic network. Its divisions provide global long distance voice, data and video products and services, local telephone services to more than 6 million subscriber lines in 19 states, and cellular operations that serve 42 metropolitan markets and more than 50 rural service areas.
