JONES MEDICAL DISCUSSES EARLY 1994 RESULTS AT MABON CONFERENCE

ST. LOUIS, March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Bramblett, Jones Medical Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: JMED) Executive Vice President, today presented the Company's recent results to Money Managers and Financial Analysts at Mabon Securities Corp's Second Annual "Personal and Financial Wellness" Conference in Beaver Creek, Colorado. JMED along with five other public vitamin nutritional supplement companies made presentations.
Mr. Bramblett told his audience that following an 80% and 87% increase in revenues and operating income, respectively, during 1993, JMED's January-February 1994 revenues were running well ahead of the same period of 1993. "Strong sales increases in vitamin nutritional sales are the results of greater consumer awareness and interest in `wellness programs' provided by this fast emerging growth industry," Mr. Bramblett said.
Mr. Bramblett further told his audience that, "I believe that unlike the majority of others, in this industry, JMED's corporate `pharmaceutical culture' should allow our company to more quickly respond to increasing pressure by the FDA to the strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in the manufacturing of all vitamin nutritional supplements. As this burden results in the further consolidation of this industry, we plan to complement our internal growth, with additional accretive acquisitions."
JMED's flagship vitamin nutritional supplement line is the Bronson Pharmaceutical label. Bronson's sales were founded on, and today continue to be driven by, physician recommendations and by referrals of renown authors within the scientific community including Roger J. Williams, Ph.D., Ds.C., two time Nobel Prize Winner Linus Pauling, and Julian Whitaker, M.D.
As previously announced, JMED's 1993 sales of Vitamin Nutritional Supplement sales were up 144% to $22 million which for the first time exceed the Company's Pharmaceutical Product sales. Pharmaceutical sales, principle critical care products, were $21 million, up 40% over 1992. Consolidated net income was up 81% to $6.4 million or $.65 per share.
Jones Medical is a twelve year old manufacturer and direct marketer of Pharmaceutical and vitamin nutritional products with a five year compounded annual growth rate of 33% in sales and 38% in net income.
