JON JASHNI NAMED PRESIDENT OF AZOFF FILM UNIT
BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Jon Jashni has been

appointed president of Giant Pictures, the newly renamed motion picture division of Azoff Entertainment Co., it was announced today by Irving Azoff, owner of the company.
Jashni most recently served as a production executive at Columbia Pictures where, during his two-year tenure, he was involved with the production and development of such films as "Mo' Money," starring Damon Wayans; Stephen King's "Sleepwalkers"; and Francis Ford Coppola's "Dracula." Prior to that time, Jashni was affiliated with Daniel Melnick's The IndieProd Co., where he was involved in the production of "Roxanne," "Air America," "Punchline," "Get Smart...Again!" and "Mountains of the Moon."
Jashni began his career with Melnick in 1985, taking a one-year hiatus in 1986 to attend UCLA's Graduate School of Management where he obtained a masters of business administration with a major in entertainment management. As an undergraduate of the University of Southern California, Jashni received his degree in corporate finance.
Azoff began his motion-picture production career with the hit films "Urban Cowboy" and "Fast Times and Ridgemont High" where he was able to forge a unique synergy between the worlds of film and music. Shortly afterward, Azoff became chairman of MCA Music Entertainment Group, where he led the company back to industry prominence.
In 1990, Azoff established the Azoff Entertainment Co. and formed its subsidiaries, Giant Records and Giant Merchandising, with Warner Bros. Records. Soon after, he entered into a first-look motion picture production and distribution agreement with Warner Bros. During its first year, Giant Records compiled and released the biggest soundtrack of the year: the companion album to the Warner Bros. hit film "New Jack City."
"Jon is a very talented and dedicated executive who is destined to have a long and rewarding career," stated Azoff. "I'm pleased to have him as part of the family and feel confident his ability to transform ideas into reality will make this company a thriving, productive force in the film business."
