JOHNSON CONTROLS PURCHASES SERVIDYNE CHILLER SERVICE OPERATIONS BUSINESS

MILWAUKEE, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnson Controls Inc. (NYSE: JCI) announced today the purchase of certain assets of Servidyne Incorporated for the maintenance, repair and retrofit of commercial building chiller equipment.
The purchase includes Servidyne's chiller service business, which consists of five branch offices located in Atlanta, Rockville, Md. (Washington, D.C.), Glendale, Calif. (Los Angeles), San Leandro, Calif. (San Francisco) and Metairie, La. (New Orleans).
"This purchase expands and strengthens our capability to service controls and the HVAC needs of our customers," said Joseph W. Lewis, executive vice president of Johnson Controls. "Due to the escalating costs of refrigerants as the world phases out CFCs, building owners will want better maintained and leakfree chiller equipment. Johnson Controls sees this type of business as a significant opportunity for growth."
The purchase by the Systems and Services Division of Johnson Controls complements its existing commercial building controls and service business for HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) equipment. Headquartered in Milwaukee, Johnson Controls is a North American leader in facility services and control systems to manage energy use, HVAC, lighting, security and fire management for nonresidential buildings. It operates more than 170 sales and service offices in North America.
Servidyne Incorporated, headquartered in Atlanta, will continue to operate its rental chiller fleet as well as provide remanufactured compressors, hermetic centrifugal chiller motors and other plant support services for HVAC contractors.
