JOHNSON CONTROLS GAINS PRESENCE IN SOUTHEASTERN MARKET WITH NEW PLANT ACQUISITION

MANCHESTER, Mich., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnson Controls, Inc. (JCI) Plastic Container Division of Manchester, Mich., announces the acquisition of the U.S. Container manufacturing facility in Orlando, Fla. According to Jim King, vice president/general manager of the Johnson Controls Plastic Container Division, the company expects to retain all employees and the current customer base, operating the business as an on-going concern. The purchase, effective immediately, includes all facility assets.
With the acquisition, Johnson Controls increases its number of production facilities in the United States to 19. "Most significantly," says King, "this acquisition puts us squarely in a growth area of the country and gives us a location where we can service customers in the southeastern market."
The Orlando facility includes 150,000 square feet of manufacturing space and approximately 65 employees. It is primarily engaged in the manufacture of one and two liter containers for the beverage industry.
Johnson Controls, Inc. (NYSE: JCI) is the largest producer of polyethylene terephthalate (P.E.T.) containers for food and beverages in the world, with continued emphasis on growth and expansion in U.S. and worldwide markets. In addition to the 19 facilities in the U.S., Johnson Controls operates 5 plants in Europe.
