 JOHNSON, BHARDWAJ NAMED VICE PRESIDENTS
 PALO ALTO, Calif., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Consolidated


Freightways Inc. (NYSE: CNF) has named Maury W. Johnson as vice president of management information systems and Sunil Bhardwaj as vice president of internal control.
 The appointments were announced today by Gregory L. Quesnel, senior vice president and chief financial officer.
 Johnson, 46, was most recently director of management information systems. In his new position, he will have corporate responsibility for data processing, communications, technology systems development and systems support operations for the parent company and its 11 transportation subsidiaries in North America and overseas.
 Johnson joined the Consolidated Freightways organization in Portland, Ore. in 1967 as a computer operator. He subsequently advanced through increasingly responsible positions and was named supervisor of systems development in 1979. In 1981, he was promoted to manager of systems and programming for the former CF AirFreight, and in 1989, became director of systems development for Emery Worldwide in Wilton, Conn. He returned to Portland in 1991 as director of management information systems for the parent company.
 He is based at the company's administrative and computer operations center in Portland and will report to Phillip W. Seeley, vice president - administration and technology.
 Johnson graduated from Portland State University in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in economics. He is married with three children and lives in Vancouver, Wash.
 Bhardwaj, 36, was most recently assistant corporate controller. In his new position, he will have management responsibility for overseeing internal controls in the company's systems and procedures; as well as auditing functions to ensure compliance with management, accounting and administrative policies at CF Inc. and its subsidiary companies in North America and overseas. He will be based in Palo Alto.
 Bhardwaj joined the Consolidated Freightways organization in 1989 as assistant corporate controller, bringing nearly 15 years of experience with various public accounting and industrial firms. Prior to CF, he was a manager with Arthur Andersen and Co. with responsibility for the CF account.
 Bhardwaj, who is married and has one child, graduated from the University of Delhi, India, with a bachelor of commerce degree. He is a certified public accountant in the state of California and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
