JOHN-MICHAEL MAAS PROMOTED TO VICE PRESIDENT, CREATIVE AFFAIRS, FOR MOTION PICTURE GROUP OF PARAMOUNT PICTURES

 HOLLYWOOD, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- John-Michael Maas has been promoted to vice president of creative affairs for the Motion Picture Group of Paramount Pictures, it was announced today by John Goldwyn, group president/production.
 Maas is responsible for the development and supervision of motion pictures in production at the studio.
 "John-Michael's contribution to the pictures he has worked on is incalculable," said Goldwyn. "I have no doubt that he will emerge as a major player within the Motion Picture Group."
 Previously, Maas had served as director of creative affairs since January 1992. He joined Paramount in 1990 as a creative executive. During his tenure at the studio, he has been closely involved with such films as "Wayne's World," "Frankie and Johnny," and most recently, "Leap of Faith." Currently, he is the executive in charge of "Coneheads," now in production.
 Before coming to Paramount, Maas worked in various freelance production capacities in New York. Having grown up around the industry, Maas is the son of author Peter Maas ("The Valachi Papers," "King of the Gypsies," "Serpico") and the late producer Audrey Maas ("Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," "Eleanor and Franklin").
 Maas holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from Duke University. Paramount Pictures is part of the entertainment operations of Paramount Communications Inc.
