WILMINGTON, Del., Dec. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- John W. Snow, chairman, president and chief executive officer of CSX Corporation, has resigned from the board of directors of The Columbia Gas System, Inc. (NYSE: CG), citing the press of CSX business and other commitments.
 His resignation is effective today.
Snow was president and CEO of CSX when he was elected to the Columbia Gas board in May 1990. He has since assumed the additional responsibilities of chairman of the board of the Richmond, Va.-based transportation firm.
Columbia System Chairman and CEO John H. Croom expressed regret over Snow's resignation, pointing out that his constructive contributions to the corporation and to the board's deliberations would be greatly missed.
