JOHN NUVEEN COMPANY DECLARES REGULAR QUARTERLY DIVIDEND; FIRM DECLARES FIFTH DIVIDEND SINCE 1992 PUBLIC OFFERING

    CHICAGO, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The John Nuveen Company (NYSE: JNC) today declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.14 per common share. The $0.14 dividend, which is the company's fifth regular dividend since its initial public offering of common stock in May 1992, will be payable on Sept. 15 to all shareholders of record Sept. 1.  The ex-dividend date will be Aug. 26.
    "Regular quarterly dividends are one way for JNC investors to share in the success and growth of the company," noted Nuveen Chairman Richard J. Franke.
    Founded in 1898 and headquartered in Chicago, Nuveen is the nation's oldest and largest investment banking firm specializing in the sponsorship, marketing and management of tax-free investments for individual investors, and in the underwriting and distribution of municipal securities.
