JOHN J. BUCCHIGNANO ELECTED TO UST INC. BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 GREENWICH, Conn., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- UST's Board of Directors announced today that John J. Bucchignano has been elected to the Board of Directors of UST Inc. (NYSE: UST), effective December 1, 1993.
 Mr. Bucchignano, 46, is executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Company, a position he has held since October 1991.
 Mr. Bucchignano joined the Company in 1984 as director of financial planning. Since then, he has held positions as controller and senior vice president.
 Prior to joining UST Inc., Mr. Bucchignano was controller at Cognitronics Corporation in Stamford, Conn. He also served as audit supervisor at the accounting firm of Ernst & Ernst (now Ernst & Young).
 A graduate of LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., he is a member of LeMoyne's Board of Trustees. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) as well as the New York State Society of CPA's.
 He resides in Fairfield County, Conn.
 Through its subsidiaries, UST Inc. is a leading producer and marketer of moist smokeless tobacco products including Copenhagen, Skoal, Skoal Long Cut and Skoal Bandits. Other consumer products marketed by UST subsidiaries include premium wines sold nationally through the Chateau Ste. Michelle, Columbia Crest, Conn Creek, and Villa Mt. Eden wineries.
