JOHN IS CASTLE HERO.

Byline: SHANE BROPHY

Tipperary SFC Club Final Aherlow Gaels 0-9 L'more/Castleiney 3-10 LOUGHMORE/CASTLEINEY became the first Tipperary club to complete the senior hurling and football double after overcoming Aherlow Gaels in yesterday's county senior football final at Semple Stadium, Thurles.

John McGrath's 1-9 proved instrumental in their victory with his fortunate goal, proving to be the crucial score, as his 45-metre free went all the way to the net.

Loughmore didn't look back from there with Evan Sweeney adding a third goal with ten minutes to go against a shell-shocked Aherlow Gaels side who never got going in the second half.

Gaels trailed by just two points at the break (1-4 to 0-5) with Tom King getting the Loughmore goal in the seventh minute.

Loughmore's dominance was such that Aherlow didn't score in the second half until the 21st minute by which time the game was over.

LOUGHMORE/CASTLEINEY: T King (1-0), J McGrath (1-9, 1-7f, 0-1 45); A McGrath (0-1), E Sweeney (1-0).

AHERLOW GAELS: M Hanley (0-1), S Grogan (0-1), T Fahey (0-2); T Hanley (0-2), B O'Brien (0-3, 1f).
