JOHN HUGHES' 'DENNIS THE MENACE' COMPLETES FILMING IN CHICAGO

BURBANK, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Principal photography has been completed in Chicago for "Dennis the Menace," a live-action comedy written and produced by John Hughes, based on Hank Ketcham's comic strip characters, to be distributed by Warner Bros.
The film stars Academy Award-winner Walter Matthau and Golden Globe nominee Joan Plowright as George and Martha Wilson, three-time Emmy Award-winner Christopher Lloyd as a mysterious visitor to Dennis' hometown, Lea Thompson and Robert Stanton as Alice and Henry Mitchell and film newcomer Mason Gamble as the adorable, inquisitive Dennis the Menace.
Hughes and Richard Vane produced the film, and Nick Castle directed. Ernest Chambers was the executive producer, with William Ryan as associate producer. Filming took place entirely on location in the Chicago area.
The film's supporting cast includes Amy Sakasitz and Kellen Hathaway as Dennis' precocious playmates, Margaret and Joey, Oscar- nominee Paul Winfield as the town police chief and veteran comic character Arnold Stang as the local newspaper photographer.
At age six, Gamble has his first starring role as Ketcham's innocent instigator, whose energetic exploration of everything around him wreaks havoc for his curmudgeonly next-door neighbor, Mr. Wilson, and his adoring wife, Martha; his parents, Alice and Henry; his buddies, Margaret and Joey; and a mysterious visitor, Switchblade Sam, who befriends Dennis and his playmates in his attempts to loot some area homes.
