 JOHN F. RIORDAN NAMED CHAIRMAN OF INGAA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- John F. Riordan, president and CEO of MidCon Corp., was elected chairman of the board of directors of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) at the group's 48th annual meeting held at The Westin Bayshore.
 Dennis Hendrix, chairman, president and CEO of Panhandle Eastern Corp., was elected vice chairman of the board.
 Riordan is also an executive vice president and a director of Occidental Petroleum Corp., MidCon's parent, and president and CEO of Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America, MidCon's interstate gas transmission subsidiary.
 He joined a predecessor company to Occidental Chemical Corp., Occidental Petroleum's chemical division, in 1958. He held a number of sales, product and business development and operating management posts at OxyChem before moving to Tulsa, Okla., in 1986 as executive vice president of the natural gas liquids unit of Occidental Oil and Gas Corp.
 He became president of Oxy NGL Inc. the following year. He also was executive vice president of Occidental Oil and Gas and of OXY USA Inc., its chief domestic exploration and production subsidiary.
 In 1988, Riordan moved to MidCon as president and chief operating officer. The following year he also became president of Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America. In 1990, he was elected CEO of both companies and an executive vice president of Occidental Petroleum Corp. He was elected a director of Occidental in 1991.
 Also at the meeting of the INGAA board of directors, Jerald V. Halvorsen was re-elected president, and John H. Cheatham III was re-elected senior vice president, general counsel and secretary.
 Also re-elected were: John G. Ams, treasurer and vice president, financial affairs and administration; R. Skip Horvath, vice president, rate and policy analysis; S. Lorraine Cross, vice president, regulatory affairs; S. Lawrence Paulson, vice president, communications and publications; Gay H. Friedmann, vice president, legislative affairs; and Theodore L. Kinne, vice president, environment, safety and operations.
 INGAA is a trade association whose members include major U.S. interstate and Canadian interprovincial natural gas pipelines.
