JOHN CONNALLY'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY TO BE PUBLISHED THIS FALL

NEW YORK, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Many of the questions surrounding former Texas Gov. John B. Connally's life will be answered for the first time in his own words in his forthcoming autobiography which will be published by Hyperion in November. Connally completed work on the book shortly before falling in May; he died in Houston this week, at the age of 76.
Bob Miller, vice president and publisher of Hyperion, said "John Connally was a larger-than-life figure in his own right and his book reveals not only what it meant to be John Connally, but also gives a you-are-there perspective on some of the most important events in recent American history."
In the autobiography, entitled "In History's Shadow: An American Odyssey", Connally candidly addresses: his life in politics from Texas to Washington; his indictment on bribery charges; his well-publicized bankruptcy; his rescue mission to Iraq in 1990, which resulted in the release of 24 hostages; and affirms, once and for all, the findings of the Warren Commission. He also gives his honest opinions about major political figures from John F. Kennedy to H. Ross Perot.
Connally's extraordinary political life spanned more than 30 years, including three terms as governor of Texas, an unsuccessful bid for the presidency, his controversial switch from the Democratic to the Republican party in the 70's, and his advisory roles to such key figures as Lyndon Johnson, the Kennedys, and Richard Nixon.
