JOHN CASTELLANI NAMED VICE PRESIDENT, GOVERNMENT RELATIONS OF TENNECO
 HOUSTON, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Tenneco Inc. (NYSE: TGT) announced today that John J. Castellani will join the company as vice president, government relations, effective Aug. 1. He previously held a similar position for TRW Inc.
 Castellani, 41, will be responsible for Tenneco's government relations at the federal, state and international levels. This will include direct responsibility for any existing and subsequent government relations functions of the company, its operating units and subsidiaries, including government representation and grass roots and constituent relations programs. He will be based at Tenneco's Washington office.
 "John brings a wealth of public policy development experience to Tenneco. His leadership will be crucial as we seek to develop objectives of the company and its operating units," said Michael H. Walsh, Tenneco chairman and chief executive officer.
 Castellani joined TRW in 1980 as director, federal relations and became vice president, government relations in 1988. Prior to joining TRW, he spent four years with the National Association of Manufacturers, first as director, energy, and later as vice president, resources and technology. He has also been a strategic planner and environmental engineer for General Electric Corporation.
 Castellani earned his B.S. degree from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. and has participated in executive management courses at both TRW and General Electric. He was chairman of the Fairfax County (Va.) Redevelopment & Housing Authority, and is currently a director of the Business Government Relations Council.
 Tenneco is a diversified industrial company with major business interests in natural gas pipelines (Tenneco Gas), farm and construction equipment (J I Case), automotive parts (Tenneco Automotive), shipbuilding (Newport News), packaging (Packaging Corporation of America), and chemicals (Albright & Wilson).
