JOE'S LIVING HELL; Drogheda ace Kendrick lifts the lid on his total nightmare with Asian club.

Byline: PAUL O'HEHIR

JOE KENDRICK has lifted the lid on his explosive spell with Azerbaijan club Neftchi Baku.

The Drogheda United defender returned to the League of Ireland last year after six months of living hell. He was gagged from talking about his experiences until now as his case was before the Swiss courts.

But Kendrick won his case and has hit out, telling the Irish Mirror of the intimidation he faced to quit the club and leave Azerbaijan.

He and his young family received threatening and anonymous phone calls to their house

Police suspected his phone line was bugged

Told his safety was at risk if he stayed in the country

Punched in the head by his captain at training

Denied wages for months while team-mates were paid.

"It was an absolute nightmare," said the 26-year-old Dubliner last night.

"I'm furious with FIFA and how they handled things."
