JOBS JOY AS HUGE MIRA SCHEME BACKED.

Byline: Jenny Waddington

NUNEATON'S economy has been given a massive boost after the government approved plans for a local Enterprise Zone.

Expansion plans by A5-based engineering firm MIRA will now benefit from the new recession-busting scheme.

The decision was hailed as a huge boost for the advanced engineering, research and testing facility which has started work on an ambitious pounds 300million development.

It will create more than 2,000 jobs over the next ten years.

MIRA chief executive officer George Gillespie said: "MIRA Technology Park will result in the creation of thousands of jobs for our region - a major benefit of becoming an Enterprise Zone is it allows us to move ahead with our development plans more expediently."
