JOB CREATION SPURRED BY COOPERATION BETWEEN FRENCH TECHNOPOLE AND
 U.S. AND JAPANESE COMPANIES
R.L. DiCicco, president of Falls Church, Va.-based Technology Catalysts (TCI), and Patrick Geneste, president of the Montpellier, France-based Montpellier Technopole, will host a press conference to discuss the way jobs are being created by transfer of French technology to the United States and Japan.
This press conference will take place at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Va., on Monday, May 18, at 3 p.m. as part of the 11th annual High Technology R&D Trade Fair sponsored by TCI. Over 100 firms from around the world with interests in life sciences, chemicals and industrial processes will attend.
-- During the mornings of May 18 and 19, sessions are scheduled at which small and large companies present information on in- and out-licensing opportunities. In many instances, the advanced technologies described by the small, technology-driven, innovative companies is the first public announcement of a new development. French researchers will present breakthrough technologies including a malaria cure, a new AIDS treatment and zero effluent chemicals production.
-- During the afternoons of both days, attendees have the opportunity to exchange ideas and otherwise network in face-to-face meetings.
-- On the evening of May 18, TCI will host a banquet for attendees, guests and the press. The featured speaker will be Dr. Richard Razgaitis, vice president for commercial development of Battelle Development Corporation. Razgaitis will speak on "The Commercialization of R&D: Lessons Learned."
Press representatives are invited to attend any of the technical sessions, the press conference and the banquet. Contact TCI to make arrangements.
