JILTED MAN DIED FROM OVERDOSE; Police broke in to find body.

A MAN spurned by his Polish lover days before they were due to holiday together died of an overdose.

Merthyr Tydfil Coroner's Court heard that Francis John Morgan, 40, had been dead for a week before his body was found on August 22 last year.

He had been due to fly to Poland on August 17 with girlfriend, Mira, for a holiday. But two days before his departure he phoned a friend to say he had been dumped.

Polish friend Danuta Sztucka said in a statement: 'He was crying. He said Mira had told him that there was no future for them together and she did not want him to go to Poland.'

Mr Sztucka said he sounded very sad.

Mr Morgan, of Twyncarmel, Swansea Road, Merthyr, was said to have told him: 'I am going for a long walk where no one will be around this time.'

In a statement read out in court, Mr Morgan's father said his son had been married to Ela, another Polish woman, for 20 years and was divorced about a year ago.

He said his son was due to visit on August 14, but did not turn up.

The police were alerted by a neighbour who had not seen him for a week. Pc Andrew Thomas, of Merthyr Tydfil police, broke in to the house and found Mr Morgan's body in an upstairs bedroom.

Dr Samuel Kiberu, consultant pathologist at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr, said Mr Morgan's body had six times the therapeutic dose of anti- depressant Dothiepin.

Recording an open verdict, coroner Philip Walters said the cause of death was a Dothiepin overdose.

He added: 'While I suspect that this was probably a deliberate overdose, there is nothing to prove it.'
