       JILL BARAD AND LINDSEY WILLIAMS ELECTED TO MATTEL BOARD
    LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Jill Elikann Barad, president of Mattel USA, and Lindsey F. Williams, president of Mattel International, have been elected to the board of directors of Mattel Inc., John W. Amerman, Mattel's chairman and chief executive officer, announced today.
    "These two highly effective and talented executives have played key roles in Mattel's success during the past four years," Amerman said.  "The substantial and consistent growth of their respective divisions is attributable to their individual leadership, and their involvement at the board level will be of great benefit to the company."
    Barad, 40, joined Mattel in 1981 as a product manager.  She was named marketing director for the company's Barbie doll brand in 1982, a vice president in 1984, a senior vice president in 1985, executive vice president in 1986, and president-Mattel USA in 1989.
    Barad received a bachelor's degree from Queen's College in 1973. She and her husband Thomas have two sons.
    Williams, 54, joined Mattel in 1968 as general manager for the company's Australian affiliate office.  He was promoted to president- Mattel Canada in 1975, a position he held until 1981 when he moved to Mattel's Southern California headquarters to become senior vice president-Europe/Middle East/Africa.  He was promoted to his current position of president-Mattel International in 1987.
    Williams and his wife June have three grown daughters.
