JI demands serious steps for lasting peace in Lyari.

KARACHI -- Acting Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Barjees Ahmed Khan demanded of the government to take serious steps to restore lasting peace in Lyari.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Acting JI Ameer expressed his deep concern over the deteriorated law and order situation of Lyari for last few years.

He said that the Lyari has become the safe haven for criminal elements, adding that the life and property of the people are not safe in Lyari area.

"Gun-battle between the criminal groups has become the routine in Lyari, which plunge the residents of the area in mental agony", he added.

JI leader said, on one hand the residents of Lyari are facing untoward law and order situation, whole on the other hand, long hours load-shedding increases the miseries of the inhabitants.

He further said that the elected representatives from the Lyari constituency, despite getting votes do not able to resolve the grievances of the people, adding that the elected representatives attend the dinner of those by whom it launched operation against them, which hinted that the government is patronising those criminal elements.

"If the government had taken effective steps to maintain law and order situation in Lyari in the past, so that the present deteriorated law and order situation is not created", JI leader added.
