JI demands relief in budget.

LAHORE -- The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Punjab has called upon the government to provide substantial relief to the masses in the next year budget with subsidy on POL products, agricultural inputs and cut in electricity tariff.

In a statement here, JI Punjab leaders Nazir Ahmad Janjua, Farooq Chohan and others said the government had not cut down electricity tariff in spite of a fall in prices in the world market.

They said the rulers should be ready to cut down their lavish spending to meet the financial crunch.

The JI leaders were of the view that the government must resolve problems of farmers who had been hit by high prices of agri inputs and they will have to face an acute shortage of irrigation water in the coming rice cultivation season.
