In addition to research capabilities, our new laboratory will include areas for consumer focus groups, interviews and consumer products testing. We feel this is a major step in our continuing efforts to develop the best possible products for our consumers nationwide." Reed added that the facility will be key to Jergens' long-term growth objectives and will enable the company to determine more accurately what its consumers want. "We are very excited about where we are headed, and we believe this new addition will play a central role in our plans to become a stronger player in the personal care products industry in the U.S." The research center, which was begun in October of 1990, will house laboratories and testing rooms as well as an attached pilot plant of 3,400 square feet. The facility was developed after extensive study of successful international research concepts and includes an open design for free exchange between researchers.
