JEFFERSON-PILOT NAMES DENNIS R. GLASS CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

 GREENSBORO, N.C., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Dennis R. Glass will join Jefferson-Pilot Corporation (NYSE: JP) as chief financial officer, it was announced today by Jefferson-Pilot's CEO David Stonecipher. Glass will serve as senior vice president and CFO of the Jefferson-Pilot Corporation and executive vice president and CFO of Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Company. As CFO, he will direct the activities of the accounting, corporate development, information services, corporate planning, and mergers/acquisitions departments. He will join Jefferson- Pilot mid-October.
 In announcing Glass' appointment, Stonecipher said: "We are especially pleased to have someone with Dennis' experience as our chief financial officer. He is well-known and respected in our industry. In the past, he has been very involved as a CFO in two major companies. At Protective Life, he had substantial experience with distribution systems and products similar to ours. He is well versed in mergers and acquisitions, adding a new dimension to our management effort. His extensive experience and knowledge in financial and insurance fields make him well-qualified for his new role with Jefferson-Pilot. We look forward to having Dennis as a part of our management team."
 Glass earned a BA degree in 1971 and an MBA degree in 1973 from the University of Wisconsin. His early career was spent in Milwaukee with Northwestern Mutual where he advanced to the position of CFO of their Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), a NYSE company, managed by NML. In 1981, he joined the Portman Companies in Atlanta and served there for eleven years in positions ranging from director of finance to executive vice president and CFO. Most recently, he served as executive vice president and CFO of the Protective Life Corporation in Birmingham, Ala., with notable experience in responsibilities similar to those he assumes with Jefferson-Pilot.
 Glass and his wife, Deborah, have two children.
