 ITH DAVID A. STONECIPHER TO BECOME CEO AND PRESIDENT
 GREENSBORO, N.C., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Jefferson-Pilot Corporation (NYSE: JP) announces that it has entered into an agreement with David A. Stonecipher to become Chief Executive Officer and President of Jefferson-Pilot Corporation upon the retirement of W. Roger Soles. Soles will be retiring from his positions as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of the Corporation at the end of February 1993.
 Stonecipher will begin working with Jefferson-Pilot Corporation in September 1992 in the interim positions of President-Elect and Chief Executive Officer-Elect of the Corporation. Stonecipher will become Chief Executive Officer and President of the Corporation as well as Chief Executive Officer and President of Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Company on March 1, 1993.
 Stonecipher, 51, brings 30 years of experience in the insurance industry to Jefferson-Pilot. After graduating from Vanderbilt University he accepted a position with Life of Georgia where he advanced steadily to his current positions as President of GeorgiaUS Corporation and President and CEO of its subsidiaries, Life Insurance Company of Georgia, and Southland Life Insurance Company. He heads GeorgiaUS Management Council, which oversees the operations of all of the GeorgiaUS companies. GeorgiaUS is a holding company which has assets of $3.6 billion and has reported record earnings for each of the past four years.
 Stonecipher also serves on the Board of Directors of Life Insurance Marketing Research Association, the Life Insurers Conference, the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Trust Company of Georgia and Trust Company Bank. He is a past director of the Greater Atlanta Health Care Coalition, and currently serves on the Board of Visitors for Emory University and on the Board of Trustees of the Business School of Georgia State University.
 A 1962 graduate of Vanderbilt University, Stonecipher earned a master's degree in actuarial science in 1967 from Georgia State University. He earned the designation of Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 1970. He and his wife Nancy reside in Atlanta, Ga., but will be relocating to Greensboro, N.C.
